Sonoma Valley is one of the premier wine producing appellations within California’s “Wine Country.” Currently, Sonoma Valley has 13 approved American Viticultural Areas (A.V.A.) and over 250 individual wineries. These AVA’s include such world renowned areas as: Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Chalk Hill, Knights Valley, Carneros (uniquely straddling both Napa and Sonoma Valley) and Sonoma Coast. Wines produced from Sonoma Valley have become so popular over the last 10 years that the smaller appellations, such as Alexander Valley and Knights Valley are sometimes mistakenly identified with Napa Valley.
Specifically, the Ten Lakes Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 displays its Sonoma heritage with dark and expressive characteristics of cassis, fresh blackberries, and ripe plum with an additional undertone of spiced raspberry coulis. The aromatics of this wine also lend a comforting appeal of dried vanilla bean, sandalwood and a cedar-like-spice. Pairs extremely well with grilled steaks….or for those a little more adventurous try it with a pan seared Lamb Loin Chop!
