In the Northwest region of the United States, the Cascade Mountains are the dominate influence on the multiple micro-climates of this major wine producing area.  The climates range from cool coastal areas (the perfect environment for Pinot Gris) to the high deserts, where varietals like Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive in the long growing season.  The extended hang time of the fruit, in this otherwise harsh environment, is the key to the depth of flavors in the brilliant wines from this region.  With the aid of the Big River flowing off the east side of the Cascades, a once arid and stark landscape has blossomed into the exceptional vineyards of the Northwest.
