Rock star marketer

Jim White and Mark GarciaChef Mark Garcia is our guest on this week’s “Wining and Dining with Jim White” on VOKALnow.com.  Mark is head of marketing for food service and culinary for Avocados from Mexico.  Our conversation takes place on the eve of the Super Bowl when the super fruit is getting ready for its closeup during The Big Game.  The commercial for avocados was the most talked about ad online during the game. Mark gives us some of the back story on how this fun marketing campaign came together, and how the impact and reach of it ties-in with the theme of his new book How to Become a Rock Star Chef in the Digital Age.  Even if you’re not in the culinary world, there are great lessons to be learned from Mark’s book.  After attending the Culinary Institute of America, Mark kick-started his career working with Dean Fearing at The Mansion on Turtle Creek.  Along the way, as a chef and consultant, Mark has helped numerous top chefs and great food products develop and position their brand.  You’ll enjoy our conversation with this rock star marketer/chef who believes that if it’s good for our health, good for our children, and good for our community; it’s good for business.  “Wining and Dining with Jim White” is the podcast devoted to introducing you to the men and women who create the eats and drinks you love.  Catch all of our episodes on VOKALnow.com and iTunes.  And, remember.  If anybody asks you what you’re making for dinner…tell ’em reservations!
