Meaningful momentum

Jim White and Chad Houser
Chad Houser found his passion project when he was the chef at Parigi in Dallas. With support from his then partner, Janice Provost, and tons of hard work and a heaping helping of community support, Chad developed a restaurant that has become a model for assisting juvenile offenders. Cafe Momentum trains and mentors these young people upon their release from the system. Cafe Momentum is a fine dining 501C3, that puts “his kids”, as Chad says, into every conceivable working role in an upscale restaurant and gets them on track for a better life ahead. Oh, by the way, the food and service are great too. Get the Cafe Momentum story from Chef Houser and find out what’s ahead for the celebrated program on this week’s edition of “Wining and Dining with Jim White”. Chad also shows you how to make a fabulous side dish for your Super Bowl party: pickled jalapeños. You’ll love ’em! Thanks for joining us on the program devoted to introducing you to the people who make the eats and drinks you love. You can watch or listen to all of our shows on VOKALnow.com, YouTube, Vimeo, or iTunes. And, remember. If anybody asks you what you’re making for dinner, tell ’em reservations!

Yummy! Two great culinary fundraisers coming up
One of the funnest foodie celebrations happens Sunday night at Farmers Market. The 2016 Raiser Grazer benefiting the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of Les Dames D’Escoffier rolls out the flavors starting at 6:30.
Each year the Raiser Grazer event raises money for Les Dames’ scholarship fund by doing what its members do best: serve great food and wine!
The event is in the resurgent Market (formerly Shed 2) at Dallas Farmers Market, 1010 S. Pearl in downtown Dallas. You can get tickets for the tasting event online at Les Dames’ website or at the door Sunday night.
