All around Texas woman

Dotty GriffithSpend some time with Dotty Griffith on this week’s episode of “Wining and Dining with Jim White” on VOKAL.  Dotty has worn many hats through the years:  award winning journalist for The Dallas Morning News, cookbook author, and educator.   She’s likely to don a cowboy hat, too, especially when she’s helping charitable causes like EQuest.  She considers herself an “international citizen of the food world firmly rooted in Texas”.  We get a chance to talk to her about her new cookbook (her ninth) coming this fall–The Ultimate Tortilla Press Cookbook, Tortilla Press Bookher days as Food Editor and Restaurant Critic in Dallas, and her new endeavor as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas teaching a course she designed on culinary journalism.  Welcome to the podcast devoted to introducing you to the women and men who conjure up the flavors you love.  Catch all our episodes on VOKAL and on iTunes.  And, remember:  If anybody asks you what you’re making for dinner, tell ’em reservations!

And now, for something completely different…

Cobb Switch Barbecue in Carrollton (that great Janet and Phil Cobb BBQ place that dining doyenne Dotty Griffith is involved with and Janet’s son Blair Black runs), features all kinds of interesting events coming up.  For instance,  a “Late Great Chevy Car Show on July 3rd”, and an “All You Can Eat Fish Fry” every Friday evening for just $9.99.  They can also take care of you if you need to grab some barbecue on the way to the lake this Memorial Day.  Their “Lake Party Box” is $8 a person.  Check it out online or call 214-483-3600.  2625 Old Denton Rd. #700, Carrollton, TX 75007.

Hand me the napkins, please.

Cheers!  Jim
