Thankful for much

Jim White and Bob Sambol

Jim White and Bob Sambol

Bob Sambol pays tribute to his namesake restaurant Bob’s Steak and Chop House on its 25th anniversary–even though he no longer owns it.  Get the full story on this week’s
“Wining and Dining with Jim White” on VOKALnow.com.  He endured some hard knocks in separating from his eponymous restaurant, but Bob is thankful for the legacy and the contribution it has made to the DFW dining scene.  Enjoy tales of the great steaks of Dallas, and his excitement to be involved with the Trinity Groves project.  Welcome to the podcast devoted to introducing you to the people who create the eats and drinks you love.  We’re expanding next week to a video on demand format on VOKAL.  You might call it “video/radio”, because we’ll be combining the intimacy of talk radio with the impact of video.  You’ll be seeing stars!  Your favorite chefs, artisans, and wine personalities will be joining us in the VOKAL Dallas studios, and by Google “Hang Out”, from anywhere in the world to bring you “news you can use about wining and dining”.  The podcast version of the show will remain on iTunes and VOKAL, and you’ll have a choice on VOKALnow.com to watch or listen to our conversations.  I hope you enjoy.  I look forward to your feedback.  Thanks!  Remember, if anybody asks what you’re making for dinner…tell ’em reservations!

Legendary restaurateur and entrepreneur Phil Romano shares his Horatio Alger like story and how it’s affected every aspect of his life.  In addition to the blossoming Trinity Groves, the man behind Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Fuddrucker’s and so many other great restaurant concepts, talks about his love for painting and the organization chart for life he created for his son Sam.  We can all benefit from it.  Thanks for joining us on the podcast devoted to introducing you to the greatest names in food and wine, “Wining and Dining with Jim White”.  Subscribe to our program on iTunes and never miss an episode.  And, in memory of the late, great Norman Brinker who said he got very sad when he drove around and saw lights on inside home kitchens at dinnertime….

If anybody asks you what you’re making for dinner, tell ’em reservations!

Four rounds with Rocky couldn’t be this much fun!  I loved “Fork Fight” at 3015 Trinity Groves.  It’s the development’s cool idea to pre-promote their new restaurants that start opening in the fall.  Each week a couple of “contenders” go at it for four, pounding, pulsating, palate pleasing courses, paired with wine, beer and cocktails.  The winner of the bracket style competition will face grande dame chef extraordinaire Sharon Van Meter (proprietor of 3015) for a big, winner take all (bragging rights) showdown.  Here’s how you get information about Thursday’s edition of “Fork Fight” pitting Souk VS Chino.  Go to BrownPaperTickets.com or call 214-744-0100.  Check out our video to see who won this week’s bout between LUCK and Resto Gastro Bistro.

A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty “Hi Yo Silver!” he’s not!  But, “Savor Dallas Guy” (AKA Jim White) is on the case again to bring you the latest updates on Savor Dallas 2013, March 14th through 17th.  Click on the video for your personal invitation to a “Sneak Preview of Trinity Groves”.  This is going to be Dallas’ hottest restaurant destination by the summer.   You’ll get a chance to try the restaurants before they’re even open!  And, because Savor Dallas Guy is really Irish at heart, he wants to invite you to a cool, upscale St. Patty’s Day Celebration at the beautiful Dallas Arboretum.  Get details in the video.  If you’re too busy to watch the :60 second video, just click here and get tickets to both events.   Cheers!
